In this article the author illustrates a gap between irrigation potential created and utilised and gives the probable reasons for the short-fall of the utilisation of irrigation potential created. He further illustrates how the long term credit facilities to ryots helped to achieve the complete utilisation of the irrigation potential created in the Musi Project in Andhra Pradesh within a short period of 3 years, which otherwise, in the normal course would take at least 10 years.
