An electronic analogue for flood routing based on Muskingum storage equation has been described. The analogous electric circuit is given and the analogy discussed. The development of the practical circuit and the method to trace an outflow hydrograph are given. The applicability of the analogue is tested for the reach between Baramul and Kaimundi on the River Mahanadi and the results are discussed. It has been found that more accurate results are obtained by using different values of k and x for different years. For accurate prediction of the outflow hydrograph, a continuously recorded inflow hydrograph has to be fed to the analogue.
