Long-term daily rainfall depths data of 39 random raingauges have been utilized for examining the stability of different long term peak expectations estimated from small lengths cut of the data. For deriving the parameters of the extreme value distribution the established efficient method of Maximum Likelihood has been availed.
35—40 year lengths of data normally suffice the purpose when per cent dispersions of estimations up to ± 10 are permissible.
