This paper presents a complete analysis of the problem of design of most economical trapezoidal section of open channels. Three different cases, wherein either the side slope, or the bottom width or the depth of flow is given havebeen considered. Convenient dimensionless parameters have been developed, whose values have been tabulated, which provide a handy solution for the above problem.
