Abstract

The development of power during the past 25 years has been brought out. The phenomenal rise in the generation of power from the annual addition of 133 M.W. in 1947—50 to the expected 1600 M.W. per year in the Fourth Plan has been described. Statistics regarding investment, installed capacity, per capita consumption, number of consumers, number of villages electrified etc. have been furnished. By indigenous development of power equipment self-sufficiency has almost been attained. There is a change to Aluminium from Copper in the conductors in the distribution system. A few suggestions to improve matters and economise in the capital investment have been made. The part played by C.W.&P.C. in the achievement of this phenomenal development has been described.
