Abstract

Traditional materials used in high dam construction, adoption of masonry as construction material for 124.7 m. (409 ft.) high Nagar-i junasagar Dam and its advantages are discussed. Construction of coffer dam in record time, economy effected in its cost, the huge employment potential created by construction of the dam in masonry, record daily progress of masonry construction, usage of timber scaffolding to great height of clam and the construction by Monotower cranes are some of the aspects dealt with in detail. Problems relating to rehabilitation of displaced personnel are detailed. Steps taken to produce additional food production in Krishna Delta lower down, during the period of construction are discussed.
