Abstract

Yamuna Hydel Scheme Stage II envisages the construction of two Power Houses one at Chibro and another at Daktpathar. The Power House at Chibro is the first underground Power House being built in the Himalayas. The various considerations that led to the adoption of an underground Power House have been described,. The necessity for supporting the rock along with the vertical walls of the cavity is given. The details of the type of anchor supports and the criteria for the design of anchors has been described. The procedure adopted for installing and strengthening the anchors is described. Instruments have been installed to measure the dilation and it was observed that there was very little tilting.
