Abstract

This paper deals with the bank stabilisation work of Brahmaputra for about 643 km. (400 miles) from Dibrugarh to Dhubri. The flow characteristics of the River Brahmaputra have been discussed. The river is very unstable and there is constant erosion of bed and banks. The types of works undertaken to stabilise the river have been described. The effectiveness of the various structures have been briefly discussed.
