Experiments were conducted on the sand model of tube-well in confined aquifer to determine the shape and size of cavity formation. An equation based on dimensional analysis was suggested to predict the size of cavity formed in an aquifer of particular thickness when the diameters of particles and working drawdown are known. Nomograph is presented to avoid mathematical computations. For all the materials the shape of the cavity was found to be parabolic ivhen the top surface was circular.
