Based on the Manning’s formula for velocity, unique equation is derived, which directly connects the essential parameters such as, velocity, slope, rugosity coefficient, discharge, side slopes and the breadth-depth ratio of a canal section. The equation is useful for finding the solution to a given problem easily and accurately, without resorting to trial and error or approximation. Therefore, the use of the master equation is recommended.
