In an attempt to study some aspects of the boundary layer developed on a spillway floor experiments were conducted and it is seen that the velocity profiles on such a floor are quite different from those obtained in an open channel. The nature of the velocity profiles can be seen from the Figures 3 through 11. A new difinition of boundary layer for such types of velocity profiles is given and some aspects of the same are described in this paper.
