A study of the problem of water pollution was done in selected reaches of Rivers Chambal, Tapti, Sone in Madhya Pradesh under a Research Scheme sanctioned by C.B.I.P. The study was aimed at assessing the water pollution due to growth of industries in the selected reach and its effect on plant and animal life. The report was submitted to C.B.I.P. under problem No. 3.1.3.8.

This paper gives result of above investigations alongwith suggested remedial and preventive measures.
In all 31 related parameters were fixed for testing 137 samples were taken during the years 1978 to 1981. Sampling was done monthly as this was only justification project.
