Unbundling of power sector allows for participation of more entities in generation, transmission and distribution of electric energy. Removal of barriers with the opening up of trans· mission access to various producers at one end and distributors at other end is expected to give rise to its maximum utilisation. Consequently in the competitive environment with appropriate pricing and optimum operation, eventually it may lead to beller availability vis.a vis overall quality of service and possibly lower consumer price, provided market imperfections are controllable.
