Most of the substation and distribution automation products have fixed number of analog input/outputs (IO). Situation arises where additional analog IOs are needed to provide various control and status information to the product. Remote analog IO is an IEC 61850 enabled IO unit which works as an IO extension.
This paper describes the applications of RTD/mA input and mA output module for the product Remote IO. Major advantage is that the parent product Remote IO works on the principle of Ethernet Based IEC 61850 on GOOSE. Due to modular approach, required number of RTD/analog IOs can be met by scaling up or down the modules.
