Abstract

In conventional Distribution Substation, major factors affecting substation design are space required to accommodate all HV-LV- Auxiliary Switchgears, cost of land, gestation period for construction, time required for various approvals from Government Authorities. All above critical factors is being re-evaluated based on the changing requirement to provide compact design to overcome the space constraints, lead time of construction, reduce total owning costs & minimal approvals.

In order to address these requirements, Tata Power is working towards developing solutions to address these needs collaboratively with the OEMs.

This paper highlights the approach adopted by Tata Power to explore possible innovative solutions for Distribution substation design taking care of above mentioned needs.
