Abstract

Government of Tamil Nadu has been working hard to cater to ever increasing various Sectorial demands of over 7.21 Crore people of Tamil Nadu as the State is a water stressed, with limited supplies and rainfall distribution is found skewed temporally and spatially. Due to climate change effects, even though the average annual rainfall is realised, nowadays the rainfall is intense and occurs over short period reducing the number of rainy days leaving more runoff rather depriving sustained infiltration to ground. Sustained efforts to create more space for harnessing the rainfall we get that too in shorter time is the need of the hour the total rainfall are and to cater to ever increasing growing demands of over 7.21 crore people.
