Abstract

The main aim of this paper is to prevent the water leakage from the hydro pumped storage turbine. This water leakages flow in guide vane seal and main shaft seal. It occurs due to the water pressure and compressible force of a guide vane seal during the closing and opening in the guide vane mechanism of water flow direct in the hydro turbine runner. Similarly, the main shaft seal is also damaged due to the friction becomes continuous rotation of shaft in the hydro turbine during generation and pumping that results in water leakage. The water leakage can be controlled by using high resisting material which inhibits the water, generation as well as power losses in pumped storage hydroelectric power plant.
