Commissioning of a large hydroelectric project which has substantial volume of underground works is a challenge. Generator and bus duct are very important items and require integration with other equipments and on-going civil works. The engineering of generator, bus duct and excitation system (approximately 20% of E&M cost) was carried out expeditiously and supplies were ensured in time. This paper deals with many features of generator, bus duct and excitation system with respect to design, erection, testing and commissioning. The difficulties experienced and action taken to solve them are an experience by itself. Authors have made an effort to give a lucid picture of these three items as an experience. It is expected that future projects would be benefitted with this effort not only in this company but world-wide.
