An effort has been made to present the design and erection related aspects of Chamera-II turbine, its auxiliaries, and monitoring part of it. Normally monitoring, particularly in Turbine auxiliaries is not given that much of importance which is required and desired. In Chamera-II this aspect has been taken into consideration and all out efforts have been made to monitor and record maximum activities. In order to come up with a safe design, minimize risk to man and machines and thereby improving cost economics by proper selection of equipments, main stress has been given to the problems encountered during execution of the project. Typical hydro issues and approach in general being adopted, has also been touched upon, considering inherent safety margins. In order to fully explain the intricacy of turbines and valves a small preview of drawings of different areas has been presented. These drawings are just for the sake of better appreciation of intricacy of jobs in respect of a hydroelectric project. The authors also propose to come out with recommendations ideally suited for hydro power stations based on techno economical aspects in their view.
