Ever growing demand of electrical power due to rapid growth of industrialisation and the increase in per capita consumption of power, the need of constructing more power projects has become essential. The ratio of hydro-thermal mix in power generation has gone far below from the ideal range and hence the Government and Planners are going high-way in augmenting Hydropower. Various factors such as geographical and geological conditions, scarcity of land & its acquisition and maintenance of ecological & environmental balance has necessitated the creation of underground structures in construction of hydro-projects.
