Abstract

Extensive work has been done for study of yield in river Narmada up to NWDT award and in flood hydrology by GoMP, Central Water & Power Research Station (CWPRS), National Institute of Hydrology (NIH) and Central Water Commission with the guidance of Dam Review Panel headed by Dr. Y.K. Murthy, Ex-Chairman, CWC. Indian Meteorological Department and Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorological have provided the basic input statistical data for selection of design storm and its associated factors and features. With very short history of observation to arrive at reliable and agreeable flood data for series of projects in a river valley, specially one draining like Narmada, all the available know-how has to be applied. With changing environs, diminishing jungles and increasing paving the arrived figures now look very much occurring.
