The papers deals with details of main canal and its network of Indira Sagar main canal and the important features of which are summarized below:
Total irrigation from 248.65 km long Indira Sagar left bank main canal (LBC) is 1.23 lakh ha (0.99 lakh ha by flow canal +0.24 lakh ha by lift canal)
571 villages of Khandwa, Khargone and Barwani district of Madhya Pradesh will be benefited.
Further expansion is proposed to irrigate 0.35 lakh ha of land by Punasa lift scheme.
The latest estimated costs are Rs. 1522 crores for LBC and Rs. 185.04 crores for Punasa Lift scheme.
It is proposed to develop complete irrigation potential of 1,23,000 ha by March, 2010.
