Abstract

Indira Sagar power station is located in Khandwa district of Madhya Pradesh. This multi purpose project is built across river Narmada and is having 8 turbine generator units of 125 MW each (1000MW). All the TG Units are of BHEL make. Fast pace erection adopted for this project has resulted in a unique achievement of commissioning of eight machines of 125 MW each in a short time span of 15 months. The machines are of large dimensions like stator dia 10.2 m, penstock dia 8 m, No. of poles 52 etc. The erection procedures adopted at site are briefly described here.
