Salient features of generator transformers for Indira Sagar Power Station

This article offers a detailed review of the salient features of the generator transformers manufactured by ABB Power Transformers for Indira Sagar Power project. These transformers are evacuating power from 8 x 125 MW hydrogenerators of subsurface power house. Power generated at 11 kV is stepped up to 420 kV for wheeling to load centres. All aspects, starting from design upto the final commissioning of the transformer have been discussed in detail while enumerating the benefits of the design and materials used in the making of this transformer.
