Abstract

This paper discusses various power quality issues emanated from the integration of renewable energy sources like solar photovoltaic plants and wind power plants. The power electronic converters used for the conversion process of DC to AC and from AC to DC generates dominant characteristic harmonics which in turn deteriorates the power quality of the complete plant. The power electronic converters are used in bulk in such kind of plants for larger integration of renewable energy sources. Three case studies are considered here in this paper for three different plants with total generation capacity of 250 MW each. Harmonic measurement was carried out for a period of 7 days and it was done at the PCC of each plant [1]. Analysis of the measured data along with discussion is presented here in this paper.
