The rapid urbanization and industrial development with simultaneous increase in the agricultural production-have led to acute shortage of the groundwater in the different parts of the world. For the sustainable growth of the groundwater, it is essential to estimate the resources of the groundwater. In this work, the estimation of the-recharge and the discharge of the groundwater have been carried out according to the groundwater estimation-committee (1997) norms. All the recharge and discharge factors of four blocks of the Banda district have been used to complete this study. The results show the variation between recharge and discharge of the groundwater which will help the proper management of its resources. The stage of one block out of four blocks of Banda district falls under our exploited category.
