Abstract

In today's world of technological revolution, every citizen of India has the responsibility to look into the aspects of environmental changes due to activity being performed by him. The models of sustainability can only be achieved if today's generation is conscious towards the rights of the future generation to come. Government has launched an extensive development programme to provide clean power to all citizens by 2012 ensuring the sustainable economic growth. The rate of high dams in providing the energy has been well reorganised by the Govt. Although, developmental activity like construction of high dam has its positive as well as negative impacts but; proper planning & proficiency of the projects can mitigate the negative impacts during implementation of the project. Tehri Dam Project, the highest earth and rock-filled dam in India, has been executed for all-round development in the region ensuring negligible damage to the surrounding environment. A host of measures have been taken while developing the Tehri Dam Project so as to make it a sustainable development.
