Abstract

Tehri dam project was originally conceived with 600 MW generation capacity. After HPI, Moscow took over the consultancy it was recast to a 2400 MW scheme of which 1000 MW has already been installed and started functioning. The diversifi ed spillway system consisting of a conventional chute spillway besides four shaft spillways connected to the diversion tunnels with a drop of over 200 m is a unique feature of the Tehri Dam Project.
