B.S. Bhavanishankar Obtained B.Sc. Degree in 1950 from Mysore University and B.E. Degree in Civil from the same University in 1953. Joined as Assistant Engineer in Chambal, Hydro Electric and irrigation Scheme in the same year. Worked as Executive Engineer from 1959 in charge of construction of Gandhisagar Dam and Powerhouse and Canal systems till 1968. Executive Engineer Designs in Central Designs Organization till 1971. Professor of Irrigation Engineering in Technical Teachers Training Institute (western region) Bhopal. Superintending Engineers from 1973–1980 in charge of Kunwari Sindh Irrigation Circle, Gwalior. From 1980 to 1983 Director Engineering later Chief Engineer Water Management in Ministry of Water Resources, Government of India and as Chief Engineer of Narmada projects in the same Ministry till 1986 handling World Bank projects like Narmada etc. 1986–1995 Irrigation Expert on the staff of World Bank at Delhi monitoring World Bank projects. 1995–1997 Advisor on projects Government of Karnataka. 1999 to current date President Sahayoga, NGO to empower people in the management of natural resources particularly water. Associated with GWP and IWP and working in Water management in policy advocacy etc. and to build capacity in farmers organization.
