The Northern Region strengthening scheme-XXIX (NRss-29) is the project designed to meet the power requirements of the state of Jammu & Kashmir which suffers from blackouts during the harsh winter months. The rough, mountainous terrain, altitude inclement weather conditions such as snow and hail, were a major cause for concern the execution of the project. project NRss-29 delivers over 1,000 MW of electricity to the Kashmir Valley by strengthening the National Grid.
