This study involved a selection of seven different locations of Mansar Lake to carry out various physico-chemical analysis of water such as temperature, pH, electrical conductivity (EC), dissolved oxygen (DO), total hardness, NH4+, nitrite, chloride, total phosphate, nitrate, total dissolved solids (TDS), total suspended solids (TSS), turbidity, total alkalinity, chemical oxygen demand (COD), biochemical oxygen demand (BOD5), oil and grease and biological parameter i.e., coliform bacteria. All parameters were analyzed using the standard procedure of the American Public Health Association. Furthermore, nine parameters (DO, fecal coliform, pH, BOD, nitrates, phosphates, temperature, turbidity and TDS) were used to calculate National Sanitization Foundation Water Quality Index (NSF WQI). NSFWQI result shows the degradation of water quality of the lake due to anthropogenic activities of tourist as well as local people and it is suggested to formulate some new policies to protect and conserve the lake.
