Abstract

Due to their widespread adoption in the Internet of Things (IoT), medical systems, warehouses, agriculture etc, Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) have recently garnered a lot of interest. One of the main bottlenecks of WSN technologies is the constrained energy associated with WSNs. The battery life is limited and in most of situation it is difficult to replace batteries more often. One solution to this problem is the use of harvesting energy. This paper, presents an overview of the-notable energy harvesting schemes. The main issues which need to be addressed in order to create energy harvesting-systems that is affordable, effective, and dependable. A detailed description of the harvested energy storage devices is also included. Finally, major challenges in the deployment of energy harvested system in WSN are discussed.
