The maintenance of human health, growth of the economy and society, are completely dependent upon easy access to sufficient water resources. India's capital city of Delhi serves as the hub for politics, government, and socioeconomic activities. Despite its prominent position, it does not provide a balanced picture of the supply and distribution of water. Many rural and urban regions do not receive water in accordance with prescribed/ accepted norms, thus continuously experiencing water shortage. Due to high rate of immigration, population of Delhi has grown significantly. The aim of present paper is to provide impact analysis of increasing population and urbanization on the increasing demand and supply gap of water resources. The analysis indicates an urgent need for adopting new strategies for management of water resources in Delhi.
