Abstract

The renewable energy sector in India has been rapidly growing over the past decade, driven by government policies and initiatives as well as the involvement of Maharatna companies. This research paper provides an analysis of the renewable energy sector in India with a particular focus on the role of Maharatna companies and the potential implications of Industry 5.0 principles. The research method employed for this study included a thorough literature review of relevant sources on the status of renewable energy in India, as well as an analysis of records from the government and their annual reports. The literature review covered a range of topics, including key policies, targets, and initiatives related to renewable energy in India, the role of Maharatna companies in the sector, and the concept of Industry 5.0 and its implications for the renewable energy sector. By using these methods, the study aimed to gain a comprehensive understanding of the current state of renewable energy in India and the potential impact of key drivers and barriers, policies, and initiatives on the sector. The findings suggest that India’s renewable energy sector has grown significantly in recent years, with a particular emphasis on solar and wind power technologies. Maharatna companies have played a significant role in this growth, with substantial investments in renewable energy projects and research and development initiatives. The study also explores the potential benefits of Industry 5.0 principles in the renewable energy sector, such as increased efficiency and sustainability. However, it highlights the need for careful planning and implementation to overcome the associated challenges. The research contributes to the existing literature on renewable energy in India and provides insights into the sector’s opportunities and challenges.
