Non-traditional risks and their impact on the energy sector had their fair share of attention in the existing literature. This-paper intends to conceptualize non-traditional risks that affect nuclear energy and leads to energy insecurity. A systematic literature review identified catastrophes, cyber terrorism, public acceptance, and nuclear energy policy as key themes. These variables are further tested on Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant in Tamil Nadu, India to determine future research-direction. Results suggest that emerging risks of climate change migration and its impact on energy security from nuclear-power plants have limited visits in the literature. Attention towards executing renewable energy zones and nuclear energy needs to be welcomed into the literature, as it could reduce dependence on fossil fuels and create energy security.
