The global energy system is undergoing a significant transformation, with the transition to sustainable energy sources becoming a central focus in the fight against climate and environmental changes. One of the most pressing issues in this transition is achieving carbon neutrality in the power sector. The power sector, responsible for a large portion of global carbon emissions, is a crucial area where transformative change is necessary to meet climate targets, including those outlined in the Paris Agreement. The goal is to decarbonize energy production by reducing the reliance on fossil fuels and investing in renewable energy technologies, energy efficiency, and innovative approaches to energy storage.
This paper explores the concept of a sustainable energy transition, the importance of achieving carbon neutrality in the power sector, the technologies driving this change, the policy frameworks supporting the transition, and the challenges and opportunities associated with this process. Ultimately, it aims to provide a comprehensive overview of how a lowcarbon, sustainable energy system can be realized in the power sector and the implications of this transition for global environmental, economic, and social well-being.
