Abstract

Polymer impregnated concrete, polymer concrete and polymer-modified concrete are three forms of concrete which differ in terms of when and how polymer is introduced in concrete. These three methods of modification of concrete by polymer are environment friendly. In comparison to conventional concrete, compressive strength, tensile strength and flexural strength are increased on medication of concrete with polymer. Incorporating polymer into the concrete improves its adhesion to old concrete and steel reinforcement. Adhesive properties of concrete modified by polymer allow repair of old concrete structures. Resistance to the damage that can result in concrete structure as a consequence of freezing-thawing cycle is improved by polymer modification.
