Abstract

This paper deals with two methods of obtaining 50Hz sinusoidal voltage waveform of constant amplitude same as the amplitude of grid voltage from a variable amplitude variable frequency sinusoidal voltage waveform so that a variable speed wind turbine generator can be joined to grid. One method employs three phase rectifier-capacitor bank filter-three phase 180 degree mode voltage source inverter. The other method uses cycloconverter for obtaining required frequency voltage from variable frequency voltage. In these methods the importance of all the machines and devices used have been described with proper circuit diagrams and waveforms wherever necessary.
