The problem of cotton micro-dust has assumed serious consideration since it has no resale value, and pollutes the atmosphere. Recent studies by the Bombay Textile Research Association (BTRA) have shown that cotton micro-dust generated during yarn manufacture could be economically converted into methane. This can be utilised for the mill's in-house consumption (about 5 kg of cotton micro-dust can produce approximately 0.433 kg of LPG)
