Developing and testing - A new generator thrust bearing pad

Results of the performance of a new type of generator thrust bearing pad, the Polypad, in a unit at the 42-MW Muhleberg hydro plant in Switzerland show the thermoplastic pad is tolerant to damage and performs satisfactorily, even in severe operating conditions.
