Intelligent methods of load forecasting and a study of the Orissa system

Load forecasting is vitally important for the electric industry in the deregulated economy. It has many applications including planning the generation and transmission network, load switching, contract evaluation etc. A large variety of mathematical methods have been developed for load forecasting. Some of the intelligent forecasting methods are presented here. This paper also throws light on the ‘end use’ model of long term forecast adopted by OPTCL.
