This is a desk research paper which aims at reviewing critically the roles of IT in system integration and its implications to business performance improvement. Inductive approach and analytical research method were employed to underpin the subject matter under analysis. The analysis revealed the performance improvement in different areas; however, it has been evidenced that other empirical studies that have examined the link between implementation of the systems and venture performance have got mixed results. The main reasons for these mixed results were examined. The review certainly supports the contention that “In order for the project (system integration and implementation) to be successful, there must be an agreement made after critical feasibility study which must be supported by an IT Champion at the top management level”.
