Environment defined “as the sum total of all conditions and influences that affect the development and life of organism”. It, thus, includes the conditions with which man and other living organisms interact. It is a general term that refers to the external conditions in which an organism lives. Forests are close association of trees growing together at any place in the environment. The forests are very widely distributed in different parts of the world. About 40% of the lands of the earth were originally clothed with forests. Main benefit we get from trees is called oxygen. If there were no trees to give us oxygen to breath, we would not be able to live. Forests provide a wide range of economic and social benefits to humankind. Economic benefits are usually measured in monetary terms and may include: income from employment in the sector; the value of the production of goods and services from forests; and the contribution of the sector to the national economy. Again, Apart from providing a number of products forests perform an irreplaceable ecological service. Forest Resources Management is the planning, administration, and management of a wide variety of forest resources to provide environmental and economic benefits for society including wood, wildlife, special forest products, water, and recreation opportunities. Forest is a self-renewable natural resource. But over-exploitation for a long time and clearing for agriculture and settlement has caused depletion of forest in many areas. Forest depletion leads to increase in the average global temperature and changes in the Earth's surface temperature, known as global warming, could have a profound effect on the planet. Forest contributes substantially to the environment protection as well as to the economic development. It is, therefore, necessary to adopt certain positive measures to conserve our valuable forest resources and to reduce forest depletion before we are too late to do so.
