Issues on technology integrated teacher education programme

This paper focuses on Integration of Information Communication Technology and its importance in Higher Education. Teacher Education plays a pivotal role in Higher Education. It has the responsibility of preparing students for 21^st century. In the global profile of technology, teaching and learning is expected through integration of technology in education. It is technology which provides platform for students learning in the changing scenario. Here the author raises two questions to be answered-Are we competent in technology integrated teaching? Does every educational institution at higher level, provide enabling/supportive climate for teachers and learners? The paper highlights the existing issues in integration of ICT and the challenges faced by teacher education institutions. The author delineates the causes behind every issue and gives suggestion for overcoming the challenges. The critical analysis of the existing situation and the way for modification given is an eye opener for teacher educators who are necessitated to follow process based learning designed by National Curriculum Framework for Teacher Education, 2009.
