Language, in the present arena, has become one of the hallmarks of modernization. It plays a major role in the advancements of all fields. The research paper begins with an introduction on the significance of teaching French as a foreign language in all academic institutes, moves with the primary reasons for teaching of French, methodology of teaching French and suggests some of the leading centres of excellence for learners of French, and measures for enhancing the communicative competence or rather the proficiency level of learning of French.
