The application of such technology frequently violates traditional ethical, moral and religious values Genetically Modified (GM) food is currently being intensely debated in UK and throughout Europe. With the advent of the first genetically engineered food –“ tomato” on the markets in UK in 1996 led to conflict between the retailers and the diverse group of activists ranging from Ecologists, Environmentalists, Sociologists, Government agencies etc. who wanted to bring a halt to the production of these crops and stop the marketing of the GM foods. The present study intended to investigate consumers perception & awareness towards GM foods. The study included the survey of consumers in West Yorkshire Area in United Kingdom, mainly the females in the age of 18-70 years.
