Abstract

India is facilitating the tourist all the long ways. Tourism clearly makes a major contribution in the economic development by generating more employment opportunities. Tourism is an activity by which social interaction and cultural promotion is possible. It is not a new topic for all of us what we are getting from Tourism Industry. The question is, what we can do for the betterment of this industry. We are already reached to the saturation point where nothing is possible to do for the upliftment of the said industry. The answer is surly yes, we can put more efforts. There are many fields which are neglected while making planning for the development of tourism industry Highway Tourism is one of them. We are very well aware that without transportation, accommodation and food tourist can not survive. One of the major transportation is road transportation. The National Highway network of our country spread about 70,934 km. The NHDP covering a length of about 54,000 km. of highways is India's largest road development program. This article discusses the relevance of the development of highway tourism.
