The purpose of this paper is to identify how management students choose their first job, which motivational needs influence them to choose a particular job. The present study deals with Achievement, Affiliation and Power dimensions of motivational needs and preference for working abroad, preference for working in an Indian Company and preference for working in an MNC among management students of two institutes viz. Aligarh Muslim University and Lucknow University.
Data obtained from 200 students pursuing MBA from two different prestigious universities of India. EFA, T-test and correlation were performed to test hypotheses.
Decisions of management students with respect to their first-career choice are mostly influenced by intrinsic reasons than extrinsic or interpersonal reasons. Besides, there is no difference between male and female students with regard to their first career choice.
