After the introduction of Green Revolution the cropping pattern has been changed. The HYV crops demand more water and fertilizers which resulted in unplanned and non-scientific development of groundwater and problematic soil resources, mostly driven by individual initiatives. Fertilizers have been praised as being highly associated with the temporary increase in food production observed in many countries. The development in agriculture has caused a change in environment. Many of this change are negative. In Murshidabad with the introduction of Green Revolution change in agriculture is noticed. The study is based on secondary data. It finds that with this advancement in agriculture groundwater and soils of the district has affected a lot.
