The present study concerned with ‘Scheduled Caste Students of Higher Education in Bangalore city. There are about a hundred million people in India who have been officially nomenclatured as “Scheduled Castes”. The area of study has been confined to Bangalore city. The size of the sample of the students was fixed at 248. The major tool of collection of primary data has been interview schedule. The primary data collected from the students have been supplemented by relevant secondary data. It could be seen that as many as 52.82 percent of the students have chosen their course of study because it consists of their favorite subjects. A small 14.11 percent of the students had to settle for their present course of study as they could not secure admission to the course of their choice. Those who said the institutions in which they are studying are the best ones constitute a small 11.69 percent. Their choice of present course of study has been largely influenced by two major factors such as “favourite subjects” and “job prospects”. The other factors, namely “count not get admission in the subject of their choice”, “the advice of parents and relatives”, “the advice of teachers”, are of marginal importance in the choice of course.
